Our impact…so far.

With each new project we take on, we reduce carbon emissions, salvage lumber that would otherwise wind up in the landfill, and help make working with lumber the circular system that it needs to be.

We’re as obsessed with numbers as we are with wood - so check back frequently to see how our impact numbers have grown with each project we complete & each community we build as we grow.

Make an impact with
Carbon Smart Wood™

Carbon Smart Wood is committed to creating a regenerative, people-first economy that champions an inclusive workforce and invests in community through environmental and social initiatives. We work with partners all across the country to make this happen.

  • Connect with products that act as carbon sinks, not emitters. Building with fallen hardwood emits 7 times less CO2 than wood-plastic composites. Up-cycling wood waste further shrinks carbon footprint.

  • Traditional wood harvests have high carbon costs. With up-cycled wood, safeguard 4 trees per 1000 board feet of Carbon Smart Wood™.

  • Source closer to home to cut transportation emissions by 20%, reducing carbon footprint and global supply chain risks.

  • Establish local manufacturing hubs, reviving American jobs. All Carbon Smart Wood™ products are proudly domestic.

  • 15% of Carbon Smart Wood™ sales support forest stewardship. Fund tree canopy restoration, capacity building, and related environmental benefits.

  • Choosing Carbon Smart Wood™ fuels a sustainable revolution, amplifying resilience and community empowerment.

Our reforestation efforts..

The Philadelphia Reforestation Hub is a first-of-its kind public-private-partnership model for wood waste capture and job skills training.

By developing a sawmill and lumber yard at the Fairmount Park Organic Recycling Center (ORC), the project aims to give new life to fallen city trees, while providing career development pathways for local residents.

The Reforestation Hub will support the City of Philadelphia in meeting its waste reduction, climate, and community impact goals. As of August 2023, the Reforestation Hub diverted 323 logs from waste.
