We design & implement transformational wood reuse programs

We help forest managers rewrite the end of life for fallen trees, reducing waste, salvaging natural resources, and sequestering carbon dioxide. By partnering with us, you can turn wood waste into valuable products while fostering community impact, supporting forest health, and promoting a better-built environment.

Government & nonprofit collaborations

We empower forest stewards to fully leverage their resources by designing end-to-end wood management programs that turn wood waste into sustainable materials.

  • Evaluation of wood waste streams, stakeholder engagement, market analysis and recommendation of solutions.

  • From fundraising support and site design through training, technology integration, and distribution, we leverage in-house experience to implement wood recovery projects.

Philadelphia
Reforestation Hub

  • Partnered with the Philadelphia Parks & Recreation and PowerCorpsPHL to transform salvaged logs into lumber through a public-private model.

  • Established site infrastructure, developed sawmill training curriculum, and co-ordinate distribution and sales of lumber.

Larimer County, CO

  •  In partnership with the County’s Office of Emergency Management, this project is conducting a woody biomass strategy.

  • Developed strategies for community engagement, GIS analysis, and evaluation of different end-product opportunities – to recommend actions for material utilization from wild fire mitigation efforts.

Twin Cities (Hennepin, Ramsey, Washington Counties)

  • Due to a surplus of wood waste in the Twin Cities Metro Area from Emerald Ash Borer, this project- completed in two phases - looked at opportunities to increase wood waste utilization through nascent technologies in the near- and long-term.

  • Identified saturated mulch markets to create incentives to enable milling operations (traditional and engineered products) and other torrefaction (e.g. biochar) or thermally-modified businesses.

Enterprise solutions

We empower corporations to turn wood waste into opportunity. Our approach minimizes waste, creates community and economic value, and integrates seamlessly with the entire supply chain.

Kalamazoo Country Club

For the Kalamazoo Country Club we collaborated directly with developers to design and implement sustainable land management strategies that integrate the wood removed for the development into the project itself.

Enabling the circular economy

PowerCorpsPHL at Cambium's Hub in Baltimore, MD.

The Philadelphia Reforestation Hub is a first-of-its-kind public-private partnership model for wood waste capture and job skills training.

By developing a sawmill and lumber yard at the Fairmount Park Organic Recycling Center (ORC), the project aims to give new life to fallen city trees, while providing career development pathways for local residents.

The Reforestation Hub will support the City of Philadelphia in meeting its waste reduction, climate, and community impact goals. As of August 2023, the Reforestation Hub diverted 323 logs from waste.

The Cambium Impact Team

Additional impact offerings

  • We generate reports for each project providing our partners with quantified data on emissions reduced through wood waste diversion & economic value generated from wood waste reuse.

  • Traece™, our chain of custody tracking and logistics management platform, provides deep insights into sourcing hubs, shipping distances, and sourcing circumstances.

  • 1% of all impact revenue is reinvested in canopy restoration & capacity building - taking your project a step further in building better futures.
